New Voices, New Worlds: Guest Starring Krista Kelly!

I believe strongly in paying it forward in all facets of my life. A lot of people were kind enough to help me in the beginning of my own journey, hosting me on their blogs so its with great pride I'm able to do the same.

This week I have the Creative and Confident Krista Kelly with me and I'm pleased as punch. Krista is someone who I dearly admire on all levels. So, have a seat and take this cup of awesome that is this new author amongst us! Krista, babe, its all you.....

First and foremost, tell us a little bit about yourself, a mini bio that tells us all need to know about you in just 3 sentences.

* I am a stay-at-home wife and mother from a tiny town in Kentucky.  I've loved reading and writing as far back as I can remember and have won a few awards during my school years.  My biggest dream is to one day have one of my stories published.

What’s currently cooking in that brilliant brain of yours?

* ~laughs~ My current WIP (work in progress) has been in the works for nearly 8 years.  It's about a Princess, a prophecy and the end of an ancient world.

What part of the day motivates you most?

* My daughter's naptime.  It's the only part of the day that I get time to myself.  For those three hours, I don't have to refill a sippy, change a diaper, or replay Blues Clues for the umteenth time.  I can relax and write.

Dr. Seuss, Dr. Who or Dr. House?

*Dr. House all the way.  I've always loved mysteries, whether they be medical or criminal.

Favorite author and why?

*My favorite author hands down is Sherrilyn Kenyon.  My grandmother got me hooked on her books when I was about 15 and I've been a Kenyon Minion ever since.  In March, one of my biggest dreams came true when I was able to meet Sherri and get her to sign a copy of Acheron for me.  I can tell you, months later, I am STILL on cloud 9.  I love her books because she is just an amazing writer.  She brings her characters to life and you can't help but fall in love with them.

Do you have a certain style of writing or are you still trying to find it?

*I am currently still finding my writing style.  I basically just write and if it feels right, then it's good.

Music when you write? If so, what’s on your playlist?

*I do occasionally listen to music while I write.  My playlist is filled with different genres.  My favorite song off my playlist has to be "Wherever You Will Go" by The Calling.  It has always been a favorite of mine.

Do you have a particular genre you’re obsessed with?

*Paranormal romance.

Twilight Zone, Snapped or Reality Shows?

*None of the above, really.  My fave TV shows range from Castle, Once Upon A Time and Mistresses.  If I was a little older, single and if Richard Castle was real, you better believe Beckett would have some competition.  ;)

Pen name or using your own? If using a Pen Name, what inspired your choice?

*I chose to use a pen name.  I wasn't sure many of my family or friends would support my choice of "hobby", so instead of using my real name, I just decided to create a pen name.  Krista is a variant of my real name and Kelley is my biological grandfather's last name.  Thought they went together pretty good.

Fave food or drink?

*My favorite drink is Cocoa Cola and my favorite food would be steak on a charcoal grill.

Finally, give us some advice you’d have for all the dreamers out there who want to become doers.

* Follow your dreams, no matter how far fetched people think they are.  Believe in yourself and don't give up.  You will run into some hardships along the way, but it will be worth it in the end.
